Dubai Based Customized Travel Site HolidayMe Raises Series A Funding Of $4 Million
HolidayMe is a Dubai-based online travel startup has hotels booking and airport pick up and drop facility across many cities worldwide. The company says that they intend at giving the control in the hands of the customers by allowing them to pick holiday packages and customise them based on their personal choices.
The company is founded by Mr. Geet Bhalla and Mr. Digvijay Pratap with offices across UAE, Saudi Arabia and India and a team of over 85 across these locations. Geet was among the first to spot a change in the online travel scenario in the Middle East. The online travel agency sales is expected to reach $3 billion this year in the region and will continue to grow at a significant rate in the years to come. A travel technology savant, Digvijay realised that online travel market had plenty of regular holiday booking portals, however no one was offering a platform to customize their holiday requirements online. This is where the idea of HolidayMe was born.
The company says that its unique concept has brought a lot of enthusiasm and excitement among the investors and in which they have managed to receive Series A funding of $4 million from a consortium of Angel Investors led by the Al Sanie Group based in Saudi Arabia.
HolidayMe has currently launched its operations in UAE and Saudi Arabia and will soon be expanding to other GCC countries in the Middle East Region.
However there is a note I hope HolidayMe can make, which is making there platform offering Halal travel like deleting activities such as wine tasting and night clubbing, this will help the company gain more customers in the Muslim majority Arab world.
That said HolidayME offers a unique concept and has a competitive edge over other travel booking sites in the Arab world, though their main competition if offline travel agencies who offer travel packages.
