Lumina Zone Launches, A New Business Incubator in Jordan By Al Quds College

Al Quds college has launched Tuesday the 12th the USAID/HED funded project; “Quds Business Incubator (QBI) for Entrepreneurs”. This project is executed with the cooperation of Washtenaw Community College in Michigan and is sponsored and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through Higher Education for Development (HED).

Many important Jordanian business professionals attended the event such as Mr. Awni Rshood- CEO of Jordan Investment Board and Ms. Sanaa Mustafa Abdo- Certified International Speaker and Trainer who was a guest speaker at the event. The Launching ceremony included presentations and short videos about the steps that have been taken in the previous period to launch the Business Incubator.
This project is considered the first of its kind among community colleges in Jordan; which offers Al Quds Students’ the opportunity to start up their own projects/business – with full support-prior to graduation at the College’s Business Incubator.

Ms. Sara Al Jabsheh- the Business Incubator Manager at Al Quds College hosted this event. The event included a speech from Mr. Sameer Barhoumeh- International Academic Projects Manager at Al Quds College; Mr. Sameer talked about the importance of the Business Incubators and the support provided by the College to the students with Entrepreneurial mindset. H.E Dr. Awni Rshood- CEO of Jordan Investment Board also talked about the importance of SME’s and their effect on improving the Jordanian economy. Also, Dr. Sanaa Mustafa Abdo- Certified International Trainer and Speaker gave an inspirational speech to the students. Ms. Victoria Bennett- the International Academic Projects Manager at Washtenaw Community College highlighted the fundamental change that happened at Al Quds College and expressed her happiness about the deep relationship between both Colleges. Mr. Hazem Al Sharif; an Entrepreneur in the Equestrian field spoke about Entrepreneurship and the importance of Entrepreneurial mindset in starting new businesses. Qusai Damrah; an Entrepreneurial student at Al Quds College gave a short description about his project and the support provided by Al Quds College for him and his Entrepreneurial colleagues.

By the end of the event; H.E Dr. Awni Rshood, Mr. Ibrahim Al Safadi- CEO of Luminus Group and Al Quds College Dean, Dr. Mohammad Daoud Al Majali handed appreciation certificates to 8 Entrepreneurial students in partnership with Eastern Iowa Community Colleges District (EICCD), who started their Entrepreneurial projects under the guidance of Al Quds College.

The vision that Al Quds College has have brought success and resulted in launching the Business Incubator; which will create opportunities to all students. The project reflects the entrepreneurial approach adopted by Al Quds College management; aiming to spread the culture of entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation among its students, which will positively contribute to poverty alleviation efforts and reducing unemployment rates in the local community.
In addition to offering the opportunity to both students and staff to attend free of charge workshops in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

Furthermore, Al Quds College was able to build strong business relationships with many important Colleges in the USA; supported by the USAID and HED the College is executing two projects related to Entrepreneurship and business Incubators.
