A new leak by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden reveals that NSA has spied and hacked into Qatar-based news TV broadcasting station Al Jazeera. In a document dated March 23, 2006, the NSA described hacking into Al Jazeera’s communications as a ‘notable success’ and listed that it and Aeroflot, as targets with ‘high potential as sources of intelligence,’ Der Spiegel reported.

The document reveals that the NSA’s Network Analysis Center managed to access and read communication by “interesting targets” that was specially protected by the news organization. The information also shows that the NSA officials were not satisfied with Al Jazeera’s language analysis.”

This is another evidence that the US government does not carry any principles. They talk about freedom of speech, free media and democracy yet they stifle it and spy on news organizations and bomb them when they offer something that is not pleasing to the US government such as what the US did to Al Jazeera. Which seems that AL Jazeera bowed to US pressure and started to delete and not publish content that disturbs the US government as per wikileaks document ArabCrunch published.
