Dubai Based Cloud Service Provider Game Minion Acquired by Silicon Valley Based Corona Labs
Based in Dubai Game Minion provides backend as a service or BaaS solution for games has been acquired last week by Silicon Valley based .
Corona has one of the most popular software development kits for making mobile games, with more than 200,000 users. It is No. 1 2D games SDK in the market, used by indie developers, and many large studios. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Game Minion handles all the service side requirements for multiplatform games. Things such as; Leaderboards, Chat, Push Notification, Multiplayer etc. “We make it easy for anyone to integrate these services regardless of the platform they are developing on.” Mohamed Hamedi cofounder of Game Minion told ArabCrunch.
“The Game Minion acquisition extends their solution offering to the cloud. So now Corona SDK developers can easily extend their game’s capabilities quickly with minimal effort. The Game Minion service will be baked into the Corona SDK for ease of use and access.”
“The plan is to relaunch Game Minion as the Corona Cloud solution, grow the team and continue to innovate and extend our feature set. Our vision is to provide a one stop shop for App and Game developers to meet their cloud needs.”
Game Minion was founded by two brothers, Mohamed and Ali Hamedi. Who are originally from Libya, and currently based in Dubai.
Game Minion was seed funded by the founders, a friend of the founders and Draper Investment Company (www.draperco.com).
