Ecuador grants Assange asylum; UK wants to storm the Ecuadorian Embassy, conspiracy against free media continues

17 Aug, 2012

Ecuador has grants Julian Assange Wikileaks founder asylum. two months after he took refuge in its London embassy while fighting extradition from the UK.

“The countries that have a right to protect Assange have failed him,” Ecuador’s foreign minister Ricardo Patino said. “[Assange] is victim of political persecution. … If Assange is extradited to U.S.,” he will not receive a fair trial

The foreign minister said that Ecuador asked Sweden to promise it would not extradite Assange to the United States, but Sweden refused.

“Asylum is a fundamental human right,” Patino said, adding that “international law” overrides local laws, and that Assange has “the right not to be extradited or expelled to any country.”

The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office called Ecuador’s decision to grant Assange asylum “regrettable.”

We will not allow Mr. Assange safe passage out of the United Kingdom,” British Foreign Secretary William Hague said at a press conference. “Nor is there any legal basis for us to do so. The United Kingdom does not recognize the principle of diplomatic asylum.”

He also lied when he said that Assange face ‘charges which is not true.
Moments before the announcement, Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa tweeted: “No one is going to terrorize us!”

Assange fears that if he were extradited to Sweden, he would immediately be extradited to the United States, which has condemned WikiLeaks’ publication of classified documents. Assange and his supporters say the U.S. would charge him with espionage; the U.S. has not said whether or not it would pursue charges against him

On Wednesday, Patino said he received a “clear and written” threat from British authorities who claimed “they could storm our embassy in London if Ecuador refuses to hand in Julian Assange.”
“We want to be very clear, we’re not a British colony,” Patino said. “Colonial times are over.”

By refusing to let Assange go free to his asylum in Ecuador and threating to storm the embbasy in volition of International law and by the Swedish government refusal to guarantee that Assange wont be extradited to the US it is clear that these governments who claim respect for human rights, international law and free media are lairs and part of global conspiracy against free media.
What is Wikileaks crime? They published secret of the US government which because of it now we have evidence of their crimes from cold killing thousands of people in Iraq and Afghanistan to pimping kids to be rapped in Afghanistan to support corrupt regimes in the world specially the Arab world,

These governments call for the respect of international law human right and free media when its suites them and violate them when they see their about to be exposed.

The conspiracy against Wikileaks and Assange remind us of the US, “Israeli” conspiracy against ArabCrunch and its founder Gaith Saqer in collaboration with tyrant regimes in Jordan, Egypt, Syria and else where. Why? Because we are interdependent and because we say the truth about their wrong policies and crimes, even if they were for few times, but they can not take a small voice that exposes them, how about a large voice like Wikileaks?

Long live the global revolt.
