13 Mar, 2011
There is no doubt that Arabic fonts are one of the most beautiful fonts in the world, however digital fonts optimized for the digital screens (PCs, Tablets, Mobile) we use are behind the rich arrays of Arabic fonts that we have offline.
Shasha Font project (shash means screen in Arabic) comes to offer a hand in creating Arabic fonts that is tailored for the optimum usage of screens, the project is designed by 2 egyptian artists Gaber and Ganzeer and being funded by Google.
Shasha Font’s blog offers documentation of the entire process. The font will be open source and its licensing will be under creative commons (CC).
Thank you Google for funding such needed Arabic project and for supporting the Arabic web.
