Memorandum of Understanding Signed Between US State Dep. and Jordan On Global Shale Gas Initiative
In a press release landed to AC, US department of state said its special envoy for International energy Affairs, David Glowyn signed with the Director General of the National Resources Authority for the Government of Jordan Dr. Maher Hijazin a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Shale Gas resources.
Under the MOU cooperation will include and not limited to, a series of workshops where U.S Geological Survey (UGSGS) would conduct as assessment of Jordan’s Shale Gas potential and visits from the Jordanian side to US counter part in the industry.
Jordan is poor in its energy resources, it exports all its oil consumption and big chunk of its Gas consumption.
Shale Gas is natural gas produced from shale. Developing Gas Shale industry in Jordan will help the Kingdom’s energy sector as well as its economy which spend around 2 billion USD a year on importing oil.
