Since around 2 years ArabCrunch has been fighting through this blog to help Arab startups and the technology industry in this region. Before us, Arab American technology professionals came together to create TechWadi, as a non profit networking organization with a similar vision to ours.

August 2009, when Yahoo acquired Maktoob, will be written in history as critical point for the Arab tech and Internet industry, as it might cause massive changes to this industry, as now investors see the exist window open. Smilier to the impact that was caused by AOL acquisition of an “Israeli” startup called ICQ back in 1998. As after AOL acquisition, the tech industry in “Israel” started to boom and billions of dollars were raised to fund early stage startups.
