PC Magazine Middle East Rose From the Dead.

7 Oct, 2009

PC-Mag-MEAfter closing down since April 2009, PC Magazine Middle East is back, but this time from a new publisher Atlus Publishing Group.

The Magazine was in the market for around 16 years and was previously published by DIT Group, a company belonging to the Saudi conglomerate Dabbagh Group. It was closed according to Chris N. Fernando, Managing Editor PC Magazine Middle and Near East | PC Magazine Arabia, because of  “change in the parent company’s business strategy.”

PC Magazine Middle East is back again and as previously will be published under license from Ziff Davis Media, which owns the main PC Mag.

PC mag is one of the oldest PC Magazines in the world. Its first edition went live in 1982 and was owned by Ziff Davis Media. However, PC Mag print edition was shut down in January 2009 by Ziff Davis and refocused its energy on its growing PCMag online network of sites. A decision that reflects the crises traditional print media in USA is going through these days.
But in this part of the world, as Internet penetration has not reached 90% of the population, and as online ad spending is still less than 1% of total ad spending, print Industry is somehow still at a safe shore.

PC Mag Middle East will officially launch on Sunday 18 October 2009 during GITEX Tech week and will be published monthly in two editions: Arabic and English and will consist, according to Chris ” -of- a mix of Information Technology and Consumer Electronics. ” and “Feature articles and group tests will also form a major chunk of the magazine’s content. Games news and reviews will be an essential part of our editorial strategy, too.”
Welcome back PC Mag to Arabia 🙂
