Samsung Launches Pixon12 in Middle East, The World’s First 12 Mega Pixel Camera Phone

27 Sep, 2009

Samsung Electronics unveiled to the Middle Eastern market today,Pixon12, the world’s first 12-megapixel camera phone with full-touch screen. Along with its Mega Camera, the Pixon12 comes with a number of functions that helps consumers capture, browse and share their images on the move along with its resistive  touch 3.1-inch AMOLED screen.

The Samsung Pixon12 has some interesting image shooting capabilities it features fast image saving for next shot, so users can move to next shot within around 2 seconds . The phone seems also capable of  providing the best photo quality by adopting innovative camera features: With the whooping Touch Auto-Focus (AF) tracking, users can simply select focus point with the touch of a finger, after which the AF function will automatically follow the object, keeping it in focus even as it moves across the screen. Moreover, Smart Auto feature allows users to capture the perfect images as the camera automatically changes the scene and mode based on its object, background and lighting. The phone camera has a 28mm wide angle lens and Xenon flash.

Even though  Pixon12 has a small 3.1” t screen which is not suitable for long hours of web browsing, however the screen boasts a contrast ratio of 10,000:1 with power-saving features which increase battery life. The Pixon12 also has a good organizing and photo managing features: User  can sort images – by tags, file names, ratings, and time. In addition, Pixon12 has feature I always wanted in a mobile: multi-selection feature which enables users to pull up images in groups rather than one by one, which makes viewing and editing photos much easier.

Smilier to Nokia S60 online sharing capabilities in the region such as Ovi and iKbis, the Pixon12  includes Samsung Share Pix, which lets users easily upload images and videos to more popular social networking sites such as Facebook, Picasa, Flickr, MySpace, Photobucket, Friendster – Where is twitpic!-.

Samsung did not miss supporting Internet and the latest voice and video connectivities in Pixon12 , as the device supports Wi-Fi and HSUPA.

Samsung Pixon 12 is using Windows 6.1 as the OS with 150MB internal storage and a microSD card slot up to 16GB, and considering it is the first 12 MP mobile to hit the market, it seems more like a Mobile in a Camera rather than a Camera built inside a smartphone.

The Samsung Pixon 12 is available across the Middle East as of today and retailed at around AED 2999. (around 816.51 USD).

Update: Pixon12 has a pwoerfull 800 megahertz processor.
