RIP FriendFeed!

RIP-FriendFeed

Around a week ago, my friend explained to me how cool friendfeed is, and explained to me how its founders are open to its users and engaged with them. That raised my respect to friendfeed and I started using it more often than just linking my Twitter account to it.

You probably heard the news that Facebook has just acquired friendfeed and you might know that Facebook has been copying friendfeed with many of its features (here is a good post from Webware that tackles the issue. )

But unlike friendfeed facebook has a reputation of being a dictator, forcing its well on its users with insane Terms of Service (TOS) , breaching their privacy and censoring freespeech. With 220 + millions members, facebook seems carless if few thousands left the site because it changed its TOS or prohibited some of its members from expressing their free speech right.
What will be the fate of this acquisition? It is highly expected that firendfeed will merge with facebook thus there will be no more friendfeed.

That opinion seems to be shared with devote friendfeed users as around 50% of comments on the official FriendFeed announcement  view the deal as negative. While many others were even commenting  against it on friendfeed blog or congratulated the founders with varied amounts of skepticism. Some other users even started deleting their freindfeed profiles such as April Russo .

I personally congratulate friendfeed founders on this acquisition, but I ask Facebook to respect its users, the way freindfeed did and respect their rights to freespeech.
