If this was the first time you hear about Blue Ocean Strategy here is a brief about it:
Blue Ocean Strategy is about making a new business idea a winning strategy. It is about following a strategy of value innovation and creating new market space instead of pursuing a conventional competitive strategy.
BOS is based on a business strategy book written by W. Chan Kim and Rene Mauborgne and is the result of a decade-long study of 150 strategic moves spanning more than 30 industries over 100 years (1880-2000). The strategy is based on red and blue oceans who both describe the market universe:
- Where in the Red Oceans are all the industries in existence today, while Blue Oceans, denote to all the industries not in existence today the unknown market space, untainted by competition.-
- In blue oceans, competition is irrelevant because the rules of the game are waiting to be set. The strategy focuses in creating Blue ocean markets.
BOS offers a set of methodologies and tools to help you be in the blue Ocean.
