Video Interview with Hussein Al-Natsheh Founder of CIApple, the Winner of ASTF Business Plan Competition.

15 Jun, 2009

Last March we reported that CIApple, the startup that works in the field of computational intelligence, won the first place in ASTF ‘s technology business plan competition -seed category-, yesterday I recorded a video interview using my mobile with its founder and general manager, Hussein Al-Natsheh to track the startup progress since then.

In this interview Hussein tells us that his startup has grown now from a part time project to a full time business with the support of $21,000 a grant from SRTD and his startups’ first product “Ciapple Clustering Tool” is currently in beta testing.

We also discussed many other topics, such as the support Microsoft is offering startups like CIApple. Just play the interview to know more:

(Disclosure: Hussein Al-Natsheh is a friend of mine, he is also Technology Transfer Program (TCP) manager at Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship (QRCE)  who was an organizing partner in the 1st ARABCRUNCH DEMO event)

I didn’t get the idea of clustering… is it something related ERP system or another standalone tool?

    Hi TripleM,

Clustering in Business Intelligence is not related to ERP. It means categorization (grouping) certain number of elements into clusters. Each cluster has a similarity degree in which each element clustered according to. To make it more clear, imagine that you are moving to a new house and you want to unpack all of your books and put them in a new closet (book shelf’s). so, you will need to categorize these books into a certain number of categories (maximum number is limited a according to the closet design) and a certain similarity degree according of the content of the books, fields, size, years… Clustering for customers database for a telecommunication operator for example can apply the same concept in order to design targeted promotions and maintain their customers from moving to other competitors… However, Clustering is a human behavior activity like thinking where classical programming cannot solve. That’s why Artificial Intelligence algorithms are used for this purpose.

    Regards,
    Hussein Natsheh

    Thanks Mr. Al-Natsheh
I see it’s part of customer retention plans. but if this software based on human behaviour data, I believe it can work to retain employee as well. So, it would be a great software for both marketeers and HR ppl.

    thanks for your response.
