Good to have people discussing Yamli here, For me I do not use Yamli to type in Arabic I'd rather use my native Arabic Keyboard and I do not like to have too many FF tool bars. However I use Yamli sometimes in Arabic search because it expands Arabic keyword searches to include all of their transliterated variations and returns results for both Arabic and transliterated content. So I get to see search results in all the Latin characters. Yamli is the only one offering this feature to my knowledge

Hey Ahmad,

Habib from Yamli here :) I'd love to hear more about the issues you ran into, as you might know the toolbar is it's experimental stage and have not been yet finalized so any feedback suggestions would be very much appreciated ! Feel free to email me at habib AT Yamli or reply here :)

Yousuf, I think you have mistaken the official Yamli toolbar with the FF add-on that was developed by independent developers. The add on is pretty cool but as you mentioned it enables yamli by default on all sites, whereas the toolbar only enables Yamli based on the user's request (toolbar button or right click)

Best,
H

I did tried it and removed it after 2 mins. It may seem cool but it is really annoying.

It really screws up the pages. It interfers with usability and design because it gets embedded the same way for all the fields in all the pages on all sites, which is not good. It has to be embedded by the site owners selectively and not haphazardly like that.

Good luck.

Thanks Ghaith and Nice one @habibh
I think it's also worth mentioning the Yamli Everywhere add-on: http://bit.ly/dhw7Y and the bookmarklet: http://bit.ly/1916EP launched by the ArabTechies initiative a couple days back. I'm likely to use those more (although they need some refining).

Well done all... and all support goes to this grass-roots-local initiative... forget Ta3reeb!
