Its more or less a Jordanian version of Twitter - nothin unique except that it caters to a particular geographic location. Another startup called http://bwjams.com , a Blogertizeworld.com product Blog advertising network allows users to post videos, pdf files, excel sheets, images, ppt etc along with posts

lol
You got me there Ghaith, but I am not much of a Watweter, I didn't find two things I was looking for in it to derail me from twitter:
1. The regional relevance: You see I seek Middle Easterners in twitter, or Foreigners living in the Middle East, I should post sth about that soon, but basically it makes the experience closer to home.
2. The attention, as an Arab I expected watwet to be at least regional in that mobile carriers in Syria/Iraq/UAE would be covered, I realized they are National with a hint of ambition. Which killed it for me, plus, I found a number of dead links at the time I wanted to know whether the SMS worked in Syria in the first place (after you covered them here), but to no end.

So, no I haven't, but I promise I would if I were in Amman.

Well to be honest SMS will be dead in the coming few years, this is driven by:
-Smart phones that has internet access.
-wide spread and cheap internet access, Free wifi, cheap 3G ..4G-
- then content will be pushed via the internet
-push email is replacing SMS.
- now twitter mobile apps allow you to use twitter just like in the desktop (also replacing SMS)
- you can also get RSS updates in ur mobile phone.

So WatWet move to launch mobile apps is a smart one and a must.

BTW Ahmed did you subscribe to AC channel on WatWet since you r fascinated :P

I find all of these SMS connected website rather fascinating. A new form of Multicast has emerged, which makes you think, is this where RSS is going? will SMS backed Social Networks create a new fabric transcending the Internet into our traditional media as well?
Just a thought

Great job guys... That what we need! Desktop applications, Mobile applications and web applications as well.... One important issue all arab developers could focus on is the Wordpress plugin! which directly send a Watwet once a blog is updated, of course each user should enter his username and password in the Admin panel of his blog, but trust me I am using it on twitter and it generates a lot of exposure!

Regards,
