iPhone 3G Released in Jordan By Orange

This is a great news for us in Jordan, now iPhone is available in all Orange stores across Jordan, making Jordan the second Arab country to officially have iPhone 3G after Egypt.

ArabCrunch was first to publish the news about the iPhone introduction in Jordan , in which the price we mentioned were close to Orange announced prices and plans today.

The iPhone 3G price range from 299 JD (421 $USD) for 8GB to 159 JD (224$USD) with yearly subscription plans.

 The iPhone 3G  packages are:

iGold: 500 cost 29.99JD (42 $USD) each month with 500 minutes, 500MB and 250 SMS monthly. 8GB iPhone cost 299JD (421 $USD) and 16GB cost 369JD (521 $USD).

iPlatinum: 1000 cost 49.99JD 70) each month with 1000 minutes, 1000MB and 500 SMS monthly. 8GB iPhone cost 255JD (360$USD) and 16GB cost 325JD (459$USD)

iDiamond: 2000 cost 79.99JD (112) each month with 2000 minutes, 2000 MB and 1000 SMS monthly. 8GB iPhone cost 159JD (224$USD) and 16GB cost 229JD (322$USD)

The Enterprise add-on Bundle: 30JD (42$USD) each month with unlimited data and 1000 SMS monthly. 8GB iPhone cost 299JD (421 $USD) and 16GB cost 369JD (521$USD).

Orange the incumbent mobile, fixed and Internet operator in Jordan has no 3G licenses yet – and no other mobile operator has yet as I know of-, so the iPhone 3G will run via GSM, and the data plan will be via GPRS.

Unfortunately there is no Arabic iPhone until now, Khaled A.  from  SaudiMac  wrote in an email to me “but Apple released an actual Arabic language user guide, so I’m hoping it’s close.”

I use Arabtaller Pro from iphoneislam.com for reading and writing Arabic text on the iPhone. It also comes with an option to have Arabic UI as well.

The problem is that it requires your phone to be “jail-broken” which will void the guarantee.

Thank you Ammar for the tip :)
